Description:
Champagne bottle used by Mary Gibbs Jones, to launch the U.S.S. San Jacinto in 1943. After the U.S.S. Houston (CA-30) was sunk in Sunda Straight, February 28,1942, citizens of Houston purchased enough war bonds to pay to replace the cruiser, with enough money left over to pay for a second ship, the U.S.S San Jacinto.
